Whenever you’re making me tear dashing my which side of the knife do you bevel? My way of thinking the inside portion of the knife we get the bevel depending on the person using it was left or right handed.

When you are making a kiridashe knife which side do you put the bevel? To my way of thinking, the bevil would be facing inside, depending on whether the person using it is right handed or left-handed. Thanks for the help.

1. What is a good set (brand) of hand files that some of you guys would recommend? 2. Would a pyrometer be helpful for checking temps when quenching since I don’t have a heat treating oven? 3. What is a good steel for making hammers, chisels, punches and other such items. Thanks in advance. Moe

Any suggestions. I can’t imagine using it for anything other tacking a few bars together or closing a canister up to make some Damascus.

Asking for suggestions for welders for hobbyist knife maker. Mostly for canisters, welding sticks to billets, etc. i haven’t welded in a little over fifty years, so simple as well as cheap. Lol! Thanks guys.

I was just curious as what you guys that have been forging knives for while, what do you think the first 5-6 different knives are that new knife makers make! 2. As experienced makers, what do you think that list should be? IE: what knives or even projects teach the most?
