sand it finely then buff with wax (like wax) for a very glossy finish.

that hawk has several things going for it! Steel- 4140 is very durable sheath- durable with zero maintenance. Handles- looks quite grippy, and again durable A cool factor!

The difference in price and categories relates ( for most any product) quality. You can work with cheaper; but you (usually) get what you buy.

Very interesting! To me, knowing some about the wood, where it comes from, and its history ( in this case) provide uniqueness and depth for a blade.
