I use a large plastic speed square to adjust my platen , I set mine to where the face of the platen is at the same height as the face of the wheels.

I love the knife. The shape , the colors , everything about it EXCEPT those dang Lovelass fasteners. They always show a shadow around the bolt , drives me NUTZ. Very well made as usual Calvin.

Forging uses less steel...... Stock removal uses more belts........... The heat treatment and thermal cycles dictate the outcome.... All Hail King Kevin......Thanks for the facts : )

Just leave a little bit to grind off later, they say it will de-carb on the edge. Then follow a normal heat treat cycle, be sure to normalize. Dwane

I love it when Sir Cashen posts. Im not sure as to what you are refering to , like planer blades or mower blades , but it would not be cost effective. AND we can have it both ways if we use steel that has the same heat treat methods , like the 10XX steels and 15N20 as Kevin said. Dwane
