hats off to you guys. Great all around testing. Comments about the edge geometry, handle, and sheath were excellent and afford the maker tweeks to improve his knife. alot of these issues will be worked out by talking with your client and asking him what he wants. good reading.......

Yep, just move on to the next customer, and stick to your guns. I tell them up front that last minute changes will double the price and they go to the end of the waiting list....

did a HT test on the scraps of Elmax. you can harden it to 63 RC with a torch draw at 400 degrees for 2 hours and it will bend to 45 degrees before snapping. going to try and get a temper line in my build.

Keep on making them and testing them. Just finishing up 2 little damascus hunters and a damascus folder. will post pics asap.

Been makin sharp pointy things sinse 1990 during desert storm. Glad to see some feedback. knifemakers who actually use their knives, out standing. If you use it you will produce a better knife.

Thats my point exactly. now I do not expect a full blown testing of each knife but it does not hurt the knife to cut some rope and a few pieces of wood when you try a new design. You will make wall hangers and wow knives that are more for show and thats cool and they sell. but its hart to say...

As a Field editor for Blade mag. and tactical gear mag. I have had my hands tore up while evaluating knives. If the makers would of handled their knives they would of caught these bad areas. It seems that a trend to make the knives look nasty/tactical/new, that the basic use of a knife is thrown...

Went to surface a folder blade and UGHHHHHH. The Elmax didn't like that. Have a fixed blade fighter and a push dagger ready for HT. Who does the best heattreat for the Elmax. No digital on my little oven. need someone to ht the blades.

Now you know how I feel evaluating knives for Blade. I have 2 folders and a fixed blade cut out and ready to grind. I am going to try a poormans heattreat to see if the average guy can HT without a paragon oven.

Wth the move from Texas, gun&knife shows, ball games we stil managed to make a show out of it. Made some new friends and had lots of laughs at somebody elses expense. Next year should be better.

not so much as the sword as learning how to use it. Use a wooden boken for training. they are no laughing matter. Without great technique better to use a gun.

Good looking knife. Handle combination on the money. Try running your grindline up another 1/4 of an inch and watch how the blade comes alive.

13C from Sandvic is excellent steel. nice start. Add some damascus and ivory for a killer midsize.

They look great. Like the sculpted look the best.

A 3 to 4 inch hatchet with a sharpened spiked is very popular. have the blanks waterjetted to save pain of bandsawing it out. Only HT the cutting surfaces. this will stop breakage.

Or you can do what most makers do, tear down an existing knife, reproduce a couple of times to get walk and talk down then modify pattern to your liking.
