    nice work ! think JKR is right. looks like you did go a little bit too high. on the other hand if you like it that way and it doesn´t bother you there is nothing wrong with it. but the edge looks too thick for O1 thinned down to 0.04" or less would do depending on what you are planning...

    Hey guys, Looks like I have to make a new flatgrinding platten.:mad: Last time I made it out of O1 and tempered it to 60 HRC But a dude told me that it´s not necessary and that no tempering means a harder platten which will last longer What do you think? Is that true? THX AL

    Finally made a sheath for him. Really dig the shape Chisel ground,pretty thin, last resort knife The steel is from one of the best german blacksmith www.schmiede-balbach.de He also makes damascus steel out of german Leopard tanks Anyway that´s the knife cool 1 AL

    Got up at 7am and spent the whole day with grinding,sanding,heat treating,... Now I´m tired but can look back on a very productive day. Wouldn´t it be great if we could do what we love every day ?!?!?! AL

    Double tempering of 01 steel

    I temper twice too 2x 1.15 h I have heard it´s best to cool it in cold water between cycles to give it more durability and don´t let it cool down for too long That can mess up the hardness... I think 450F is too high ... all the steel experts told me that I shouldn´t go over 400F Don´t know...

    or get a couple testing files You could also use a regular file Ask the manufacturer about the hardness That´s what I did. File: 62 HRC My knives : I always try to file them,hardly works so I guessed 59-60 friend tested it once and they were 59-60 AL

    Had the same problem Never had enough light Still don´t have enough But with 5 of the biggest fluorescent tubes I could get mounted more or less right above the grinder it´s getting better

    Thanks :running dog: it´s etched spray some glue on ,put it in ferric acid, use Wd 40 to remove the glue and you will get a Kiku knives finish AL
