NO, that is NOT what either of us said. You should have done exactly what you did do except you should have installed the rivet in that "clip cover" and THEN sewed it onto the sheath. It would have looked exactly as it does in the photo, but with a rivet in the empty hole and NOTHING would have...

Mike Miller gave you the straight scoop about installing the rivet prior to sewing, but lately I have been using a little bit of 5 minute JB Weld inside and outside the hole on the clip instead of the rivet. Nothing shows either inside or outside the sheath and it will stay 'til hell freezes...

The very small picture in the CL listing appears to be a singer model 29, and if so it won't handle anything very heavy at all. It is called a "patch machine" and can sew in 360 degree directions. Not really that rare either and the $250 is about average or maybe a little high. Paul

That's a Sam Browne stud from Tandy/Leather Factory, stock number 1309-02 in Nickel over Brass, or 1309-01 in Brass. You will also need the setting anvil stock number 8112-00. I have used these for about three years INSTEAD of the line 20 and 24 snaps. I don't believe I would trust a line 24...
