I did it the way KenH says. I grabbed a chunk of steel....put down some two part epoxy and stuck it down....I let it overhang the edge of the existing platten just a little. By using the epoxy, I can whack it with a hammer and it pops right off if I need to remove it.

No rain on the parade!...lol... I get yout point completely. I am going in search of square tube tomorow and other misc. parts. With no grinder and three knives to finish, I need to build this thing.....Who else is over here? I know WBE is in Geneva....

Josh....call me Kevin.....I am in Winter Park. Just a short drive for me to Orange city......my 4x36 craftsman died....I sniped the platen off of it....just trying to reduce the fabrication needed to get running on a 2x72.

Short and sweet....thinking about a 2X72 grinder build. I have a platen with wheels, from a four inch wide grinder...can I run a 2" belt on it and be able to get work done?

Looks like it was a tool problem!. Picked up new high speed grinder and some Diablo disks.....profiled two blades without a problem!. Thanks again for the support.....I was getting discouraged....back in the swing of things now!

Good info Wayne, thanks. My side grinder burnt up the other day, I have been using my 7.5 inch buffer/polisher....it is a high speed, but not as fast as a true grinder....I am hoping that by going to a proiper grinder again, and a better blade, that I can get through this stuff.

Hmmm...well, I can't thank y'all enough for the input! Gonna upgrade some stuff and see....I would gate for this piece of steel to ruin my taste for knifemaking....I will post an update as soon as I grab a new side grinder!
