Oooook here goes my second attempt.

Hmmmm. I have a spot on the blade that just will not get an edge. Is it possible that during heat treat this spot just got farted up? Its only about 5/8 along the blade about and inch up from the ricasso. I've jigged it with wetstones, tried an Arkansas stone and as a final try I put a trizact...

The heat treat method was one I found on here but you can look it up on youtube that way its easier to visualize it . Just look up oil quenching knives or heat treating knives. The tempering is something I read on the forums. For peoples methods . an armed society is a polite society

Hey man I appreciate it. I'm using 1080 right now. Next I'm going to 0-1 or 400c . Not that I'm great at it lol but once you get the feel of the wheel on the blade and your hollow develops its easier to feel the groove and stay in it. Kinda like a rut on a dirt road. The video I watched is the...

Oooook here goes my second attempt.

Heat treated yesterday. Heated to critical . Quenched. Then tempered at 400 for 2 hrs. Cool down then 400 2 more hours. Did the final grind tonight. I'm going to acid wash the blade and do the poor mans tumbler. Scales and sharpen tomorrow. I took it really slow with the finishing of the hollow...
