    Armor piercing 3V Tanto {Build Along}

    More Progress pics..... Here the slot is milled in the guard and I am laying out the shape. I like to use a brass rod for marking sometimes, it is more permanent than a sharpie, but doesn't leave deep scratches like a scribe. Jump ahead and here are all of the fittings. The guard is...

    Armor piercing 3V Tanto {Build Along}

    Thanks guys. Having fun so far! Hey Bubba, I ground in the bevels. I have a PM-45 Mill, so it's not huge. I have considered milling in bevels, but haven't yet. I would need to either buy a tilting table, or make an adjustable jig.

    Armor piercing 3V Tanto {Build Along}

    After finishing up the last tanto, I really wanted to make one that is more of an armor piercer than a slasher. I figured I would snap some pics along the way and share them. Starting with .290" CPM 3v. I like to mill in the fullers before I profile the blade. That makes it easier to...

    7" Tanto

    Thanks Ray! It is 12" OAL, with a 7" blade. It is an older box I got from my dad, not sure exactly, something....explosive. : )

    7" Tanto

    Thanks guys! I use Birchwood Casey Plumb brown. The key is clean steel, and heating it before applying the brown. I use a propane torch. You want it to sizzle when applied.

    7" Tanto

    Just finished up this order, and I am very happy with how it came out. I have done a similar one before, but with a longer blade. I am really pleased with how it looks with more compact blade. The seppa is hammered copper and the tsuba is browned mild steel. It has a hemp wrapped handle that is...

    Big, Bad, Bowie, Build along!

    And without further ado........ I did my best taking pictures of this beast. I am very pleased with how it came out. And am quite proud of the fact that it is 100% sole authorship from blade to sheath to pictures. Any and all feedback is welcome and encouraged. Thanks for...

    Thanks! I only have a couple pics of making the sheath, but here they are. It has bison leather front and is entirely hand stitched.

    Big, Bad, Bowie, Build along!

    Using that little jig to drill matching holes in the end of the handle. All together for the first time. Shaping the spacer and pommel. Cleaning up the shape on the handle. All sanded and polished up. The guard and pommel browned and the copper spacers heat colored...

    Big, Bad, Bowie, Build along!

    Thanks guys! At this point it is finished, I will try and wrap up the rest of the pics. The guard fit up on the blade, that math paid off! Milling the slot in the copper spacer. Truing up the ends of the walrus. Marking the Ancient walrus ivory for the tang. This is the first...

    Big, Bad, Bowie, Build along!

    Thanks for the interest guys, I appreciate it!! Everything I have learned about making knives, I learned by reading info posted online, a lot of it from people in this forum. So if someone can now learn something from one of my posts, that means a lot. here we go.. So many, many hours later...

    Big, Bad, Bowie, Build along!

    Hey guys! I am currently working on a large bowie for a good customer of mine, and I have been snapping pics along the way. It is "only" stock removal, so some you may or may not be interested. I am almost done now, but I figured I would share what I have so far. I don't have pics of every...

    ---=== Petit gyuto (Desert Ironwood) ===---

    I just finished up this nice Petit Gyuto and it is now up for grabs! This is the same model I made for myself in my kitchen and it is a great size for just about every task. The profile gives lots of knuckle clearance. The rounded/polished spine and choil is very comfortable in a pinch grip as...
