Kelly i have a jar full that i use for small knives and it has a metal lid i have had the ferric in it for over a year with no ill effects. Ferric is not near as corrosive or dangerous as 30% muriatic. You can use it in a glass container with no lid then use a plastic funnel to put it back in...

Kelly They look good next time hang them from a piece of string in a tall container so they are not touching anything it will give you a nice even etch on both sides. Bob

I have never had any luck getting a dark etch with muriatic acid i use ferric cloride for good contrast. You can get it here if there is none at your local radio shack. http://www.be-electronics.com/ they are in Regina. Bob

If there is pith showing there is not a lot you can do i would use multiple coats of crazy glue untill it will not absorb any more then sand smooth. Bob
