I have forged some hawks out of ball-peen hammers and I would say that the most difficult part of the process is moving the mass of steel that makes up the blade of the hawk. Doing it without the benefit if a press or a power hammer and trying to hold on to the head while hitting it with enough...

Tai, A colleague at work used to raise ostriches and I asked him if he knew of anyone(upper Midwest) who currently raises ostriches for meat. He knows a few and said he will do some checking. I have nothing to offer now but maybe in a few days I will know more. He also recommended searching...

Top notch knife Ben!

The hammer-in was great fun! I wanted to jump in and do some forging but it was kinda crowded. Besides the young ones there needed to experience it. Maybe next year we can get some more forges up and running.

I wish I could have stayed for the entire event it was a blast. The instructors were all top-notch. Hats off to all and I am looking forward to next year.
