Kevin, the blade is a little over 10". I really have not taken it for a "spin" so-to-speak, around the wood pile but it feels good in the hand and has a decent balance. Thanks for taking a look.

Finally finished the sheath! It took a while to get some leather(a whole nuther story)but it is finished in time for the drawing. I etched the blade in a mild acid solution and stained the wrap handle. I thought it looked too "fleshy" so I tried to darken it. Next time I will stain my...

High marks for that one! I personally like using a file. I find it strangly relaxing but someday, when I grow up I would like to get a belt grinder.

Thanks for the look Guys. Jonathan, this hawk is forged from a 24 oz head. I've never tried to make a hawk from a 12 oz head but you can do it I'm sure. Mostly I use 20, 24 and 32 oz heads.
